On the other hand, the drug glucosamine works like a shock absorber for the dog's joints. It absorbs and releases water with every step, while stimulating the production of glycosaminoglycans. Glycosaminoglycan is an essential protein found in the cartilage. This protein helps in slowing down joint deterioration and eases arthritis pain in dogs.
Fatty acids like Omega 3 and Omega 6 are good options for dog arthritis medications as well. You can find these nutrients in fish oils. The Omega fatty acids are known for its ability to reduce inflammation in the joints. The lesser the inflammation is, the less pain it is for your dog.
Boswellin is a type of commercial drug veterinarians may prescribe. Its job is to improve blood supply and ensure that the blood vessels are working normally. It provides for mobility of the joints and reduces instances of swelling.
There are other treatment strategies for dog arthritis. But you've got to consult with a veterinarian to know them all. Veterinarians know what the best type of treatment would work best for your dog. Some treatment procedure may take long to work. Don't get discouraged.
