Why Supplements Are Important For Your Pets
Your pets need a balanced diet consisting of carbohydrates, proteins, water, and fats. But that's not all they need. Vitamins and minerals are also important to keep them healthy.
Pets rely on food and exercise to thrive. It is the sole responsibility of the pet's owner to make sure that their pet receives only quality food, including vitamins. But how do you really know what vitamins your pet needs? There are simply a lot of things to consider. Pets of different types and breeds need different levels of proteins, minerals, and vitamins. Even the pet's condition is a factor too. If your pet is sick, stressed out, or on a restricted diet, it has different vitamin requirement as well.
Keep in mind that pollution affects pets as much as humans. An inactive lifestyle could also make them sicklier. And with today's fast-paced technology, a lot of nutrients get dissolved in the mere process of cooking food. These are all the reasons why pet need to be given vitamin supplements. A totally balanced diet will only be achieved if all the necessary nutrients are given. And with all of these nutrients present, better metabolism is achieved.
There are two types of vitamins – natural and synthetic.
Natural vitamins are the ones found in the food we eat. A synthetic vitamin is a vitamin that is created inside medical laboratories to duplicate the job of its natural counterpart. As far as chemical content is concerned, there's really notable difference between the two. But in most cases, vitamin supplement is preferred because it contains the substances specifically needed by your pet in cases of deficiency.
Minerals are required for proper bone formation, chemical balance, nerve function, good muscles tones, and a healthy blood. But like vitamins, these substances should only be taken in amounts prescribed by the veterinarian. Too much minerals may cause more harm than good. If your pet has too much zinc in its body, its copper level could run low.
Vitamin and mineral supplements are given to pets in order to correct deficiencies and improve their diet. These two work together. One cannot work well without the other. When buying vitamin supplements for your pet, make sure that it is complete with all the necessary vitamins and minerals. However, a balanced diet is still important. It would boost your pet's immune system. It will improve the functions of its organs. But above all, your pet will live a long, healthy life. Vitamin and minerals come in a variety of forms. Some come in powder form, which can be easily mixed with their food. Some come in chewable tablets. Be sure to choose the type that your pet prefers more.
It is also important to note that different pets have different health requirements. Don't assume that one health regimen is effective across all your pets. Take your pet to the veterinarian to find out. The vet should be able to help you out in building a balanced diet for your pet, together with the amounts of vitamins and minerals it needs.
