"You can say any foolish thing to a dog, and the dog will give you a look that says, 'My God, you're right! I never would've thought of that!"

If there is a popular breed of dog for pets, it must be the Doberman Pinscher. Doberman Pinschers are well liked because of their affectionate nature. Plus, they are also intelligent and loyal house pets.
Doberman Pinschers actually got its name from Louis Dobermann, a tax collector living in Germany. He technically created this breed of dog sometime in 1860. Doberman Pinschers are actually a mix of several dog breeds such as Greyhound, German pincher, Beauceron, English Greyhound, and Rottweiler. It was in 1876 when a Doberman Pinscher entered a dog show. Since then, this breed has been one of the most loved and most popular breeds of dogs.

By 1908, the AKC, or the American Kennel Club, recognized the Doberman Pinscher as an official dog breed. In 1921, a special club was established in its name, the Doberman Pinscher club of America.

Generally speaking, Doberman Pinschers have short hairs and weighs anywhere between 66 pounds to around 88 pounds. These dogs could grow as high as 24 inches to 28 inches in stature. Doberman Pinschers are known for its strong muscles and physique. It is a very majestic dog, although this breed is rather thin. But even so, the dog's muscles are well proportioned all throughout. Their eyes were mostly dark, exuding both intelligence and affection. They are rather lively dogs, always alert and on their feet.

This is why a lot of people assume Doberman Pinschers to be ferocious and hostile, when in fact, they are really the opposite. These dogs are very intelligent and have a lot of energy to spare. Their muscles and stamina provide them with enough strength to do more than just the physical things regular dogs enjoy. And because of their innate intelligence, male Doberman Pinschers are easy to train. But you can't say the same with the females, as they can be willful at times.

Generally speaking, these dogs are valiant, resolute, faithful, and loving to their masters. And because of these facts, they make good watchdogs. Their protective nature and intrinsic qualities makes them the best candidate for guarding jobs. Owners need to specifically understand their dog as Doberman Pinschers have varied temperaments. Some are submissive while others are follows only one person. But of course, there are others that are fine with groups of people and families.

Most Doberman Pinschers live in perfect health throughout their lifespan. Only a handful of them suffer from Von Willebrands, an inherited disorder affecting the blood. This disease is particular to their breed, just like cervical sodalities may also be common. Other health concerns owners should watch out for are congenital heart diseases, dysplasia, and bloating. Doberman Pinschers is a breed threatened by dog obesity when they get older.

Dobermans may require frequent exercise but they can live in an apartment just fine. Just walk then out every once in a while. These are very active dogs and they like the great outdoors. Don't keep them outside, though. They don't like it when it is cold. And because these dogs shed little hair and are very easy to groom, they are the most preferred pets of males. Doberman Pinschers don't need special brushing up at all.
