The Ugly Side of Pet Abuse
A lot of people adore pets. But not every single person in the world feels the same. In fact, abuse is being committed against pets around the world. Pets can be a source of joy, comfort, and relief. But sadly, a lot of people fail to realize this.
Pet owners should understand that their pets are their responsibility. They are supposed to take care of them and not hurt them in any way. Animals have feelings too. They feel pain as much as humans do.
The instances of abuse to pets happening around the world only show that humans are unaware about the sentiments of their pets. Dead animals found in the corners of a city only shows that a lot of people have yet to learn how to properly take care of their pets. Horrible people who lash out on their pets to release their frustrations can kill them unknowingly. And as the coward that they are, they just leave the carcass in a dumpsite so they won't get caught. Humans can really be inconsiderate that inconsiderate.
One form of abuse is staged dogfights. The people guiltiest of this act are usually illiterate and are not aware of the proper care for animals. Sadly, some people use dogfights to gain money out of the whole thing. If dogfights are bad enough, more so the training dogs have to go through before they participate in the match. Dogs are trained for fights by electrocuting them to make them fierce.
But aside from making pets violent, another form of abuse to animal is when their hides and hair are used for clothes. Fur clothes are the targets of most animal welfare debates. Celebrities who love wearing fur clothes usually become the subject of ridicule. The mere thought of raising animals for fur is horrible.
Subjecting beasts of burden to too much load than they can carry is also a form of abuse. It is okay to keep horses, donkeys, and even elephants for the sole purpose of drawing carriages. But whipping them incessantly and not feeding them right is abusing them. There are animals dying of malnutrition every day due to this practice.
Pets become feral and frantic because their owners treat them badly. Beating, chaining, and poorly feeding animals make them bad-tempered. As a result, pets turn to dangerous habits like biting and growling.
Locking pets in trunks and attics are forms of abuses as well. And in some places, people who are dependent on illegal drugs give their pets the same substance they take just to watch their reaction. It is a cheap and vulgar form of entertainment. These people should stop their cruelty to innocent animals.
These are not all the documented cases of animal abuse. Instances like these are now reaching alarming levels. Today is the high time to stop cruelty and abuse to animals. We all should do our share.
