Your Pet Is What You Feed Them
Health is currently a subject a lot of people became suddenly passionate about. Right now, there are organic foods, low calorie diets, and foods with zero fats and preservatives. And this has brushed off to pets too. People became so concerned about the ingredients of commercial pet foods. Everyone wants to feed their pets with something that is in the same grade as foods for humans.
By-products are not an option in human food. So people are asking why are they used for pet's food still. In the same way, people are looking for ways to feed their pets with the necessary mineral supplements for them to lead a long, healthy life. Animals acquire diseases like humans. And a lot of it had to do with the food they eat. By eating the right foods, pets become less susceptible to diseases like arthritis and heart problems.
First-time pet owners are always in the dilemma as to what they should feed their pets and what they shouldn't. There simply are a lot of things a pet owner should know before serving the their pet with the dog or cat food they see off the shelf of the store. It is very important that your pet eats right and in the proper amount. Pet owners that are too eager to give their pets food are usually guilty of overfeeding.
Pets, just like humans, should stay clear from foods rich in artificial preservatives, dyes, and chemicals. An example of preservatives you don't want to give your dogs is BHA. BHA is primarily used to prevent food rancidity and discoloration. This substance is known to induce stomach cancer. Lesser doses of BHA should be fine. But the long-term effects of this substance inside the body are yet to be determined. Besides, there's no governing body that sees to it that just a small amount of BHA is used in the pet food.
Dogs and cats thrive on protein to live healthy. When choosing dog foods, make sure that the ingredients include items such as eggs, fish, and meat. Meat by-products and bone meats are not acceptable. Grains like unbleached rice could be essential too.
They are good sources of energy to keep your pet active. Wheat and corn are hard to digest. As much as possible, don't buy pet foods that contain them. Pets need antioxidants as well. Just like in humans, free radicals ensure that your pet can battle diseases, viruses, and bacteria.
To ensure that your pet stays good and behaved, stock the shelf with dog or cat treats. Besides, delicious treats would bond you together more. Use it to reward your pet for obeying you. Don't underestimate dog treats because they can really be powerful tools. Just make sure that the treats you bring are the healthy ones.
If it is nothing but useless calories and artificial flavoring, it won't give your pet any good. The same is true with dog bones made of edible plastic. Before giving them to your dog, make sure that the so-called edible plastic is truly safe.
In conclusion, always feed your dog with quality pet food, treats, and bones. That's because those are the very things that make them the adorable pet that they are.
