"You can say any foolish thing to a dog, and the dog will give you a look that says, 'My God, you're right! I never would've thought of that!"

- Dave Barry

Your Pet Deserve A Good Sleeping Place

If you are a long-time pet owner, you should have known by now that your pets have minds of their own. They don't necessarily agree with you when it comes to the things that are supposed to be good for them. So even if you have painstakingly bought your pet a special sofa or a bed for it to sleep on, you'll notice that it prefers to stay somewhere else. And usually, it chooses the spot you have to use yourself or a place where there's too much traffic around the house.

How do you make your dog or cat stay where you'd like it? Train your dog to sleep in one area of the house only. And during the night, make sure the lights are off so your pet can build its melatonin levels. Choose a spot that is far away from the direct sunlight. Its place should be cool and airy as well.

Your pet's sleeping area should also have access to fresh drinking water. It should have entryways and stops where your pet can relieve itself. You might need to install a pet-flap in your door so it can go out to the garden to heed the call of nature. Don't worry. As your dog or cat grow older, they would able to regulate their toilet habits. So at night, you need not keep the pet-flap open.

For caged animals like chinchillas, hamsters, and birds, make sure that their abode is in a spot that’s cool, quiet, and in the least activity, but still has enough traffic, around the house.
